Hi… I’m in the Hospital

So.  I’m in the hospital.  Its kind of a long story so I guess I will start from the beginning.

Sunday night after having a stellar week at work, i decided to head out to IHOP with some friends for some late night dinner.  We had a great time laughing and hanging out.  After  that i went home to start watching some of the SuperBowl commercials.  However after watching one, I started to feel weird in my stomach.  So i decided to head to bed.  Well, I woke up around 5am with severe stomach / abdominal pain.  So I used the rest room, took some asprin and headed back to bed.  I had a bad suspision that I had another kidney stone.  So, when i woke up the next morning in extreme pain still I decided to head right to the emergency room to get a head start on what i thought was coming.  Little did I know, that i was going to be wrong.

I got to the ER and got checked out by some hot nurses, and then had a CT scan done.  After waiting quite some time, I got the results back and was stunned to find that i infact did not have a Kidney stone, but something a bit more serious.  I had Diverticulitis.  Don’t know what that is? Here is an excerpt from the Wiki entry.

Diverticulitis is a common digestive disease particularly found in the large intestine. Diverticulitis develops from diverticulosis, which involves the formation of pouches (diverticula) on the outside of the colon. Diverticulitis results if one of these diverticula becomes inflamed.

So the doctor had me transferred from the ER at Spectrum downtown (Butterworth), over to Spectrum East (Blodgett Hospital).  Mainly because there was a specialist who handles my type of cases. So i got a fancy shmancy trip in an ambulance from one hospital to the other.  That left me a bit nauseas surprisingly.  Since i never get car sickness.  So i settled into my new room and then they informed me that I wouldn’t be eating or drinking anything for awhile. IE. 2 days. lol

Yesterday, (tuesday) I had several visitors as I continued my journey here at the hospital without food or drink.  Thankfully all the visitors helped keep my mind off of things.  I was bumped down from the Dilauded to morphine, and only very little of it.  My brother also brought his laptop with him as he came to visit me.  He also brought my PSP and cellphone charger.  I didn’t sleep very well monday night or last night.  But this morning the doctors gave me some good news, among other great stuff.

They told me I should be getting out tomorrow (Thursday) so I am looking forward to that, but they also put me on liquid diet.  So for breakfast I had very very mushy oatmeal, a little container of vanilla shake, juice and a milk.  For lunch i had cream of chicken soup, chocolate pudding, juice and milk.  MAN that was the best lunch i’ve had in quite some time.  After that I took a lil nap, and had more visitors.  And then, the best news.  I could have “soft” foods.  And cheeseburger qualified, and it was GUD! So for dinner I had a cheeseburger, cottage cheese and pears, chocolate cake, and milk.  Mmmm.  My awesome brother picked up my daughter so she spent a better part of the evening with me.  It was really nice to see her since she was kinda freaked out that I was in the hospital.

So today has been pretty nice.  Steady stream of visitors has kept me busy.  It will be extremely nice to get out of here though, and get back to work.  My butt hurts from laying around and sitting in this bed lolol.  Although right now I’m sitting in the comfy chair in my room.

Anyways that’s it for now.  I’ll be working on ProbablyBlogging.com for a bit until i get tired.

TTFN

PS. Thanks to all the visitors who came and visited me.  Mom, Dad, Mark, Ru, Mikayla, Krystal,  Aunt Mary, Theresa, Tommy, Corbin, Holli, Mark H. Theis, Cecilia, Ashley, Leo, and anybody else I missed.
